Scott has been begging me all summer to go on horse ride with him and I have reluctant because everytime he goes he shows me a new wound or tells me how his horse slid and landed on him or other various tramatic experiences. He goes every Monday with his dad and cousin and one time when they were on a ride he took his camera and took pictures of the wild flowers (which he knows I LOVE ALL flowers) and brought them home as bribery to get me to go on a ride with him. He was thrilled when I agreed to go with him to see the wildflowers. I took a day off work and we went on the most amazing ride I have ever had on a horse in my life (which isn't much) but it was SO amazing!!! We went up American Fork Canyon behind Tibble Fork and at the very first of the ride just above the resevoir through some small creeks that run into Tibble Fork were literally hundreds of monarch butterflies. In fact there were SO many that I thought they were little fairies all around me sprinkling color on me and my horse. It was such a magic moment that I found myself flapping my arms to encourage more movement. A few of them followed us the entire ride which ended up just over 5 hours. The rest of the ride was simply one magic moment after another. We saw two fawns, squirrels, more butterflies and when we got to the top, where the wildflowers were there was a hovering bald eagle! Can you believe it? I promise it is the truth!! THEN......as we were starting to descend we were passing some beaver ponds and there in the middle was a moose! Absolutely beautiful! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day!
We got a few pics but none of the animals because Rio, Scott's horse, did NOT cooperate very well! So here are a few pics of my perfect day! I will NEVER forget that AWESOME horse ride! Now....I am begging Scott to take me again!

I LOVE SUMMER!!!!!

I think this was me in a previous life! I laugh every time I see this picture!
Since my last blog was about winter, I thought it might be a good time to post another blog! I have had a perma grin since the sun started shining, the flowers came in full bloom and all the world around me has come back to life!
I love opening my windows and have the crisp canyon breeze flow through my house in the mornings and evenings. There is nothing like walking through the grass and have the small soft blades find their way through my bare toes! My peonies are in full bloom and are so heavy they are kissing the ground but they still exude such a sweet aroma that all that enter my home can enjoy! (they are by the front door) The mountains are SO green, even the trees and bushes are teaching me the millions of shades of green! They are absolutely georgous! Let's talk flowers...... well that may have to be a whole other entry! I am such a flower junkie, I simply can not get enough of them. All kinds, all colors, all shapes, all smells and anywhere they want to bloom! Even in abandoned yards, fields and empty lots they seem to bring color and joy to a field of weeds!
To top it off....I love to be warmed in the sunshine! (I'm not tanning mom!) I am just soaking up the heat!

Winter Funk!
I love the beauty of winter, I love to ski, I love to go tubing, I love Christmas and all the festivities that go along with it! I love to watch the quiet serene falling snow. I even enjoy being in it as long as I am warm. It reminds me of being a kid when I would go out in the deep snow and dig a hole or hide way back in the pasture and hide from the world and allow the snow and snowflakes to fall upon my face and body. That was when I had SO many questions like; where it was coming from, who was I in this big world and was there really a purpose behind all of this? I often reflect up on those days simply because of the joy and peace I felt as a child in these winter months that now plague me with "funk". Let me define what I call funk. I am cold. It is dark more hours of the day than it is light. I have no energy to do anything. I have a room in my house that is begging me to organize and de junk it but when I get home from work I want to put on warm, comfy clothes and do nothing. My Saturdays fly by and I don't ever get everything done on my "to do" list. I NEVER take time to be in or enjoy the snow although I often take a moment at work to look out my window and enjoy the view. Scott and I often go for rides up the canyon to enjoy the beauty of it. I have gained 8 lbs. I have no drive to go to the gym nor do I want to go out in the cold. I want to eat comfort food and stay in where it is warm. So I am choosing to stay in the "funk" as long as I keep doing the same thing day after day. I might be part bear and it is my way of hibernating. Lol.
I have no idea why I am blogging about this other than if any of my readers have a secret, advice or a solution to my funk, I am open to feed back. I am pretty sure I am not the only one that feels this, I just know there is a better way to get through the winter than the "funk" way!

OKLAHOMA!!!
On September 18th I went all by myself to Oklahoma to see the Graves family! Can I just say.....I had such a great time! I told Kevin and Joni that I have no expectations other that to have fun and that we did. Cassie picked me up at the airport and I was so excited to see her that I kissed her whole face. We had a great visit while driving to pick up Brian, go for a quick tour of Cassies new place (which is darling) and go to Lisa's volleyball game. Lisa is quite the volleyball player and it was a blast cheering for her and her team! (like I need an excuse to be loud) I won't bore you with every detail, play by play of my fabulous vacation but let me say this.....we ate great food, we laughed (belly laughter hard) we stayed up late, we cried, we played games, we watched the funniest home movies that would win millions hands down, we went to "the football game", we went to Bricktown in downtown Oklahoma City which is where all these pictures were taken, we went to the parade of homes, we ate at Panera Bread (twice) and I know I am leaving out something because we didn't really sleep much either. Can I just say, I love you Okies! Every one of you and want to thank you for making me feel SO welcome and showing me such a great time! And don't you worry none......I"LL BE BACK! *)
